DoseHalo (Chinese name 药护环) is a medication reminder app for seniors and their families. It reads reminders aloud in your language, lets you confirm each dose with one tap, and optionally lets a family member help manage your medications remotely. DoseHalo is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or recommend medication and does not replace advice from your doctor or pharmacist. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is stored, and your rights.
Data controller: Chenghao Li, the developer of DoseHalo, Germany. For users in mainland China, the server infrastructure is operated by Wuhan Chongye Technology Co., Ltd. (武汉崇业科技有限公司) on our behalf. Contact: see the end of this policy.
By default DoseHalo works completely offline and needs no account. The following data is stored only on your device: • Your medication list: names, appearance, dose, meal timing, schedule, stock count. • Your confirmation records: when you tapped “taken” or “skip today”. • Settings: language, reminder options. • Spoken reminder audio files generated on the device by Apple’s speech synthesizer. None of this leaves your phone unless you turn on the family features described below.
When you scan a medication box, the photo is analysed on your phone using Apple’s on-device text recognition. The photo is not uploaded and is not stored by DoseHalo.
If you or a family member chooses to connect a family account, the following data is transmitted to and stored on our servers so that your family can see and manage your medications: • The family member’s email address. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent by email; there is no password. • A random invitation code used to link the two phones. • Your medication list and the confirmation status of each dose (confirmed, skipped, not yet confirmed). • Push notification tokens, so that reminders and “not confirmed” alerts can be delivered. Medication data is health data. We only process it after you explicitly agree when connecting a family member, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by disconnecting the family member or deleting the account. Nothing about your medications is shared with anyone other than the family members you have connected.
• Users outside mainland China: servers in the European Union. • Users in mainland China: servers in Shanghai, China (Alibaba Cloud), in line with Chinese personal information protection law. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. Apple provides us only with anonymous information about whether a subscription is active.
• No advertising. • No analytics or tracking SDKs. • No selling or renting of data. • No sharing with third parties, except the hosting providers named above and Apple for purchases and push notifications.
Data on your phone stays until you delete it (Settings → Delete all data) or remove the app. Server data for family features is kept as long as the family connection exists. When you delete your account or disconnect, the server data is deleted within 30 days.
Under the GDPR (EU), the PIPL (China) and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, export and delete your data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority. You can exercise these rights directly in the app (Settings → Delete all data; account deletion in the Family section) or by contacting us.
DoseHalo is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
We may update this policy. The current version is always available at this address and linked from the app.
